product detail

Skived PTFE Film Tape – High-Temperature & Low-Friction Insulation

Product Overview: Our Skived PTFE Film Tape is manufactured from pure, high-density Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film, skived to precise thicknesses and coated on one side with a high-temperature silicone adhesive. Unlike glass-cloth reinforced versions, this "pure" PTFE tape offers superior conformability and a much smoother surface, making it the ultimate solution for applications requiring both high dielectric strength and anti-friction properties.

Technical Specifications & Key Advantages

  • Extreme Heat Stability: Operates continuously at 260°C (500°F), maintaining its mechanical and electrical properties in the most demanding thermal environments.

  • Self-Lubricating & Non-Stick: Features an incredibly low coefficient of friction, providing a "slick" surface that prevents the buildup of adhesives, inks, or polymers.

  • Superior Dielectric Integrity: Provides excellent electrical insulation for high-frequency and high-voltage components, certified for Class H systems.

  • Chemical & Moisture Inertness: Completely resistant to most chemicals, acids, and solvents, and does not absorb moisture, ensuring stability in humid conditions.

  • Conformability: The skived film is more flexible than fabric-reinforced tapes, allowing it to wrap tightly around irregular shapes and fine wires.

Application

Cross-Industry Applications: Aerospace, Medical & Manufacturing

  • Aerospace & Defense: Used as a low-friction wrap for wire harnesses and as a thermal barrier in satellite and aircraft components where weight and precision are critical.

  • Automotive Engineering: Protecting sensors and wiring from high engine temperatures and providing a self-lubricating surface for plastic-on-metal sliding parts.

  • Medical Equipment Manufacturing: Ideal for lining guide rails and wrapping components in diagnostic machinery due to its chemical resistance and non-contaminating properties.

  • Packaging & Heat Sealing: Applied to the sealing bars of L-Bar sealers and vacuum packaging machines to ensure clean, non-stick release of plastic films.

  • Semiconductor Processing: Used in cleanroom environments for masking and protecting sensitive parts during etching or chemical vapor deposition (CVD) processes.

  • 3D Printing & Tooling:Acts as a high-temperature release liner for molds and as a slick surface for filament guidance in precision 3D printers.
